Director of Structural Engineering

Colin has an extensive civil and structural engineering consulting background with over 22 years experience.  His expertise includes urban infrastructure projects encompassing road and bridge design and storm water management.  He also specialises in development of hydraulic and hydrological models for flood level and flood planning assessments.

Colin has extensive experience in structural design and project management.  Projects include residential, commercial and industrial buildings, as well as public facilities and structures.  Colin also holds a current NSW Building Contractors Licence and carries out construction industry inspections and reports.

Key Design Areas:

  • Residential and industrial subdivision design, including trunk drainage analysis and design of open channels and closed conduits
  • On-site storm water detention (OSD) and on-site storm water retention (OSR) design including water sensitive urban design (WSUD)
  • Roads and drainage infrastructure including inter-allotment storm water drainage design
  • Flood studies determining water surface profiles for 1% APE and above and associated mitigation works for river/stream flow analysis and floodplain management plans
  • Flood risk management studies and reports and evacuation management plans
  • Overland flow assessments, hydrological and hydraulic modeling, flood planning and flood risk management studies in accordance with NSW Government 'Flood Plain Development Manual'
  • Computer terrain modeling for roadworks, earthwork quantity assessment and flood mitigation works
  • Erosion and sediment control and soil and water management plans for developments and subdivisions prepared in accordance with NSW Department of Housing 'Blue Book'
  • Structural engineering design, computer drafting and detailing of multi-storey residential, commercial and industrial buildings, water retaining structures and hydraulic structures

  • Form work design and certification for commercial and industrial projects
  • Storm water percolation testing and reporting in accordance with AS 1547
